(There's not even a need to go into how Miller has cracked Mac OS every year at the Pwn2Own conferences for the last 3/4 years.) How can you actually be so nonchalant about the integrity and security of you OS/docs/personal information?:ermm:Įspecially since there's continual evidence of constant "fresh" Mac OS exploit concepts and other exploits being noted in the wild. But I'm not going to buy an app to protect myself against something that doesn't exist. I've yet to hear of one in the wild, it may eventually happen. I never used it but as far as I've heard, it is pretty good. If you feel safer with some app running in the background, you can try VirusBarrier. If you do that you will not need any Antivirus for your Mac. The rule applies to both Windows and Mac OS - use common sense, like someone before me said, stay off porn sites if possible (there are other ways to get your fix), avoid illegal torrent sites and yeah. If you act like a fool and pretend you are safe from harm, your Mac will be just as cluttered with spyware as any other PC out there. Most of them are virtually harmless and generally you are more on the safe side with a Mac than with a computer running a Microsoft OS.

Market share now is increasing and so is the number of viruses for Mac. It would not have made much sense to go and build a real virus, because in contrast to Windows Computers, only very few would have been infected. The viruses for Mac are not that wide spread, which is due to the historically lower market share of Apple Products. Denying that would be just as stupid as not following the general computer-safety rule: Use your common sense.
